Australian Musical Experience: Didgeridoo Residency!
Presented by Didgeridoo Down Under: Awesome Educational Entertainment!
The Didgeridoo Residency includes two to five full days of Australian cultural and didgeridoo music immersion! The residency kicks off with the Didgeridoo Down Under Show (or shows) and includes progressively challenging didgeridoo workshops (aka Aussie Funk Jams) with the same group(s) of students. The residency culminates with a short student performance (or performances).
** Didgeridoo Down Under Show: Australian Music, Culture, Character Building & More! **
The Didgeridoo Down Under Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, comedy, character building (inc. kindness, acceptance, respect), and loads of audience participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1500 years, and it's known for its otherworldly sound. During the show, the performer plays a variety of exotic didgeridoos and worldly percussion instruments, demonstrating various playing styles and upbeat rhythms. He uses a multitude of props – vocabulary list, motivational signs, puppets, artwork and more – to deliver educational lessons and empowering messages. The program is very participatory, and several segments involve students playing instruments, dancing or acting out a story. The DDU Show is interactive, educational, motivational and super fun for all ages!
** Aussie Funk Jam: Didgeridoo Workshop! **
The Aussie Funk Jam is a totally interactive and hands-on musical experience in which participants will ...
... use our beginner PVC didgeridoos (clean and sanitized, of course).
... learn how to drone and make numerous sounds, including animal calls.
... learn how to play basic rhythms.
... learn the fundamental concepts of circular breathing.
... learn about Australia and Aboriginal culture.
... learn how to craft a didgeridoo from household items such as cardboard tubes (on their own time).
... partake in an uplifting jam session!
The show can be for all grade levels and large groups of up to 500. The workshop is best for 3rd-12th grades and 40 or less students per session.
Upon request, each participant also can paint and decorate a cardboard didgeridoo on one day. Cardboard tubes must be purchased separately by the school. We know an inexpensive supplier.
Participants will be mesmerized, inspired and motivated as they enjoy a unique multicultural music experience. Good vibes guaranteed!
